“Of all my experiences since coming to the school,” Elixer said, his voice sounding oddly flat in the darkness, “this has got to be the weirdest.”

“Could you please stop moving, Josh?” Mercury asked, her voice seeming to come from everywhere. “It’s hard enough to concentrate as it is without you and all your squirming.”

“Sorry.” He rested a hand against the wall, such as it was, and felt it give slightly. “It’s… warm.”

“That tickles. Knock it off.”

“Sorry, Cessily.”
